Recreational Marijuana and Municipalities

This workshop will provide an in depth review of all cannabis related legislation at the federal, provincial and municipal levels and related agencies.

  •  A thorough understanding of Bill 36, The Ontario Cannabis Statute Law Amendment Act
  •  Municipal Funding- provincial funding to provide an incentive to municipal governments to allow private cannabis retail in their communities

  • The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (ACGO) as the retail store licensing body
  • Cannabis consumption rules and places of use under the Smoke Free Ontario Act.
  • A review of best practices across Canada
  • Enforcement: A review of different agencies and their mandates as it relates to recreational marijuana

About the Instructor:

Tracey Burrows
is a municipal law enforcement expert with over 25 years of experience. As the recently retired Manager of By-Law Enforcement, Licensing and Animal Services with the City of Burlington, and President of TLB Municipal Consulting Services, Tracey is able to stay on top of current trends and changing and emerging legislation both in the area of public policy  municipal administration.
