CORRESPONDENCE COURSES - offer an Assignment Schedule to follow when taking any Unit. It is recommended that one Unit be taken at a time. Each Unit consists of a number of Assignments and a 2-hour closed book Exam. Assignments are submitted by email, fax or regular mail. There are two weeks between each Assignment due date and three weeks from the final Assignment due date, to the writing of the Unit Exam. The written Examination requires the use of a Proctor. Suitable Proctors are outlined in the materials sent to the registered Students. Once you are registered, you will receive your Unit materials at least two weeks before the first Assignment due date. AMCTO offers the Municipal Administration Program, the Municipal Accounting and Finance Program and OACA's Primer on Planning Course by correspondence twice a year: - February to May (registration begins Dec. 1)
- September to December (registration begins July 2)
EMAIL COURSES - offer the opportunity to register at any time. With each course, you set your own pace and schedule. You decide how often you submit a lesson (keep in mind that AMCTO anticipates each course will be completed within 12 months). It is important to design and commit to your own schedule right at the beginning. Some choose to submit a lesson once a week and others submit once a month. Once your registration is processed, you will receive your first lesson via email, and then you will be on your way! Currently AMCTO offers the three levels of Parliamentary Procedure by email. |
| MULTI-MEDIA COURSES - offer the convenience of accessing course materials from any computer terminal. Each Unit consists of a 10-week term. It is recommended that one Unit be taken at a time. Once you are registered, you will receive your Unit materials and DVD-ROM at least one month before the first Assignment due date. You will have access to an online message board to communicate to others taking the course and this information will be sent to you via email. The DVD-ROM will be equipped with quizzes to assist you through your learning experience. There are two (2) Assignments to submit according to an Assignment Schedule. At the end of the 10-week term, you will be required to write a two-hour closed book Examination. The written Examination requires the use of a Proctor. Suitable Proctors are outlined in the materials sent to the registered Students. AMCTO offers the four Units of the Municipal Law Program through this correspondence and multi-media format twice a year: - February to May (registration begins Dec. 1)
- September to December (registration begins July 2)
