About the Forum

The Municipal Finance Forum brings together finance professionals from across the public and private sectors to explore top issues and emerging trends in municipal financial management. In partnership with the Municipal Finance Officers’ Association of Ontario (MFOA), the Forum serves to answer key questions related to financial service delivery, success, and sustainability.
Municipal finance professionals are operating in complex and challenging times. With changing local economies, many municipal leaders are facing unrealistic expectations from councils, citizens and other stakeholders to deliver more with less. On November 4th, join us to discuss and unpack the various challenges and opportunities that come with building new and improved municipal services.

Dr. Almos Tassonyi, Executive Fellow, School of Public Policy, University of Calgary

Dr. Almos Tassonyi is Executive Fellow and former Director of the Urban Policy Program at The School of Public Policy, University of Calgary. He is an Adjunct Lecturer, Department of Geography and Planning, University of Toronto, and a Research Associate at the International Property Tax Institute.  He has more than 30 years of experience working in the Ontario Ministries of Municipal Affairs and Finance on municipal fiscal issues as well as international experience in China, Hungary and India working with the World Bank, the Forum of Federations and the Canadian Urban Institute.
