Government to Help Small Municipalities Plan for Infrastructure Needs

2019-01-14 11:39:08 AM

Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure, Monte McNaughton, on Friday announced that 58 rural Ontario municipalities will receive infrastructure help through a program delivered by the Municipal Finance Officers’ Association of Ontario (MFOA) in partnership with the province. This program will be delivered in three phases.

One of the initiatives, known as AMP It Up 2.0, will provide in-person expert assistance from professionals who will offer advice on municipal asset management plans and data collection processes.

Due to Ontario’s growing infrastructure gap, all Ontario municipalities are required to develop and adopt a strategic asset management policy by July 1, 2019 and complete asset management plans addressing all of their assets by July 1, 2024.
