2021-06-01 2:21:14 PM

On May 21, 2021 the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility released the 2019 Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Annual Report.

This is the first report under the banner of the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility, as the responsibility for AODA moved to the Ministry in 2018.

The Report provides a review of the Ministry’s 2019 accomplishments, highlights of the activities of the various Standards Development Committees, the Ministry’s work on the compliance and enforcement of the AODA, and initiatives with various partners on raising awareness advancing accessibility and inclusion in communities across the province.

The Report highlights the Ministry’s participation in the 2019 AMO Conference, and their effort to review legislation with the assistance of people with lived experience and the expertise of municipal and sector representatives.

Looking ahead, the Report states that the Ministry will continue to engage partners with the goal to make Ontario open and accessible for everyone.
