Ontario Releases Reopening Plan

2021-05-21 12:05:27 PM

Yesterday the Ontario Government released its Roadmap to Reopen, a three-step plan to reopen the province and gradually lift public health measures based on the province-wide vaccination rate and improvements in key public health and health care indicators.

The Government expects to enter the first step of the Roadmap during the week of June 14, 2021, which would include resuming some outdoor activities with small gatherings and permitting retail with restrictions.

In the meantime, of particular interest to municipalities, the Province has amended O. Reg. 82/20 to reopen certain outdoor recreational amenities as of 12:01am on May 22, 2021, with restrictions in place. These amenities include, but are not limited to golf courses, sports fields and tennis and basketball courts. Outdoor limits for social gatherings and organized public events will be expanded to five people, which will allow these amenities to be used for up to five people, including members of different households.

At this time, all other public health and workplace safety measures under the provincewide emergency brake remain in effect.
