On September 18 2020, the Provincial Government announced nearly $1 million in new cost-sharing funding for rural communities under the Rural Economic Development (RED) program.

Not-for-profit organizations whose mandate is regional economic development are eligible for up to 70% of the total costs up to $75,000 for certain projects.

Application intake starts today and runs until October 9 2020. Costs for projects must be incurred by March 31 2021.

Projects need to meet certain criteria: tangible outcomes, benefit rural Ontario and be regional in nature with impact beyond one county, region or district.

The next regular intake of the RED program will be in December.
