Advocacy Update: Asset Management Plan Timelines Have Been Extended Following AMCTO Pre-Budget Submission

There is some good news to share on Asset Management Plan (AMP) timelines! The Ministry of Infrastructure has filed regulations to extend the deadlines for municipalities by one year. Planning timelines are now:

July 1, 2022 – plans are required for core municipal assets
July 1, 2024 – plans are required for all municipal assets
July 1, 2025 – plans are required to include service levels and their appropriateness; a lifecycle management and financial strategy; funding sources and needs; and other assumptions.

As part of AMCTO’s Fall 2020 Pre-Budget submission and our most recent 2021 Pre-Budget Submission (PDF) AMCTO called for the extension of the deadlines in O. Reg. 588/17 by one year.
