Ever wonder what to do and what not to do in the world of clerks commissioning? We'll dive into the who, what, and why (and why not's) of affidavits and responsibilities within the clerk's role as Commissioner of Oaths. We'll also explore key considerations for commissioning both in-person and virtually. This session will look at the legislative framework behind commissioning, what clerks' responsibilities are, and liabilities.

Joanne Hyde

Joanne Hyde is a nationally-recognized municipal leader with over 17 years of senior government experience including the statutory role of municipal clerk. Her experience includes serving in both large, upper-tier, and smaller, rural communities along with serving for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

She has presented at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) and Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conferences on effective meeting management and the Municipal Information Systems Association (MISA) conference on effective tools for meeting modernization for rural municipalities.

As an original member of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) Masterminds, Joanne participates in a national group of municipal leaders that focuses on the importance of local government across Canada. Joanne is also an AMCTO trainer and instructor in the Municipal Employee Readiness program at Durham College. Her philosophy is rooted in providing good-governance strategies, with a dose of relativity and integrity!
