It is within this exciting context that the Region is seeking its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Commissioner, Corporate Services.
Reporting to the CAO, the CFO & Commissioner is a member of the Region's Corporate Leadership Team and a trusted strategic advisor to the CAO, Regional Council and senior leadership. The CFO & Commissioner acts as the most-senior financial executive for the Region, providing strategic leadership across an array of corporate stewardship functions including financial management and treasury, development financing, procurement, information technology, insurance and risk management and others. The CFO & Commissioner ensures that all functions operate as an integrated corporate system that supports the Region's financial sustainability, service delivery, asset stewardship, digital and information environment, organizational resilience and strategic priorities.
As the ideal candidate, you are a highly accomplished financial executive and Chartered Professional Accountant with significant senior leadership experience in a large, complex public-sector or similarly regulated environment. Previous municipal experience is a highly desired asset. You bring deep expertise in long-term financial strategy, multi-year operating and capital budgets, financial reporting, debt and investment management, development financing and the stewardship of public assets. A strategic and trusted advisor, you are adept at providing clear and objective advice to elected officials, governing bodies and/or senior leaders on complex financial, operational and policy matters. You are politically astute, collaborative and highly relationship-oriented, able to communicate with clarity and credibility, building trust across a diverse array of internal and external audiences.
You are an exceptional enterprise leader with a record of guiding modernization, transformation, continuous improvement and change across multiple corporate functions. With strong strategic, analytical and financial judgment, you understand the connection between financial sustainability, capital investment, asset management, service levels, technology, privacy and enterprise risk. You are a proven people leader who can inspire high-performing teams to deliver integrated, resilient and responsive corporate services in support of the Region’s priorities and the communities it serves.
