Our professional development (PD) programs provide practical knowledge, training, and networking to support the continuous learning and growth of municipal professionals and emerging municipal leaders.
We offer a variety of programs in different learning formats geared toward professionals at every stage in their municipal careers. These include:
Workshops & Webinars
Half-day and 1.5-hour sessions touching on relevant legislative and practical municipal issues and sector trends.
Full-day networking events that explore sector or role-specific topics and trends through a number of consecutive talks, lectures, and session presentations from a variety of experienced local government speakers and subject matter experts.
Corporate Training
An opportunity to bring AMCTO workshops in-house as part of a focused learning opportunity to train a group of employees directly. Our Corporate Training workshops can be customized to meet the unique needs of your staff and/or municipality.
Canadian Municipal Leadership Accelerator
Delivered by The Ivey Business School, this program connects a carefully curated group of participants from diverse regions, areas of functional expertise, and lived experiences. Through highly interactive sessions led by expert Ivey faculty members, learn by engaging with self-assessment tools, simulations, guest speakers, and real-world case scenarios to unlock your municipal leadership potential.
AMCTO Annual Conference
Provides 30+ professional development hours both in-person and virtually over 3.5 days of learning, networking, and collaborating with municipal professionals from across the province. Discounted rates are available for AMCTO members and annual conference scholarships are available for AMCTO student and new professional members.
Attending PD programs can be counted toward the pursuit or maintenance of AMCTO accreditation programs through the logging of professional development unit (PDU) hours. Visit the accreditation program pages for details.
AMCTO new professional members (a sub-class of full membership) can access PD programs at a further discounted rate using their new professional member voucher (a $200.00 value available annually as long as you qualify as a new professional member - up to five years).
