Municipal Elections Training has been a staple AMCTO program for decades. As a trusted resource for municipal professionals and local election administrators, we have worked to expand and grow our program each municipal election cycle.
For the 2026 edition of the program, municipal consultant Rick O'Connor is the training facilitator, who oversees and leads our 15-person Municipal Elections Training Working Group, responsible for developing program content and resources. This training is exclusively for municipal staff and government agencies that deal with municipal elections. This training aims to help support our members, clerks, and other election administrators to facilitate the planning and implementation of the 2026 municipal elections. This training is not for external companies, election vendors, candidates, third-party advertisers, or officials.
This year we are pleased to offer both virtual and in-person training. The training is tiered, with participants registering and completing the virtual portion before being granted access to the in-person components.
Virtual Program
Registered program participants will gain access to the following products and services through the virtual platform:
Access to the full training program within our online learning management system, AMCTO Connect, opens on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
In-Person Component
We are excited to offer an all-new in-person training component for an additional, nominal fee. These sessions intend to build off the knowledge learned through the virtual training platform and provide an opportunity to network with fellow elections administrators. Individuals who wish to take part in the in-person training must be pre-registered for the virtual training program.
Full-day in-person training across all nine (9) AMCTO Zones will be held in the spring of 2026. Registration for these sessions will open in fall 2025. These training sessions will be exclusively in-person (not hybrid).
