Position Purpose:
Responsible for issuing various licenses and permits including monitoring and ensuring compliance of same, in accordance with Town bylaws and provincial regulations; investigating complaints, report/evidence preparation and maintenance of associated records and files; registering deaths and marriages; processing livestock claims and Line Fences Act disputes; assisting in the conduct of municipal elections and by-elections; and responding to inquiries/complaints from the public, staff, and government agencies. Minimum Qualifications
Formal academic training, equivalent to a two-year diploma program in business studies, legal studies, law clerk, or public administration, or related discipline/equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum two (2) years of related experience. Experience with municipal licensing and bylaws preferred. Working knowledge of municipal/provincial licensing bylaws/regulations and licensing processes, including the Provincial Offences Act, Municipal Act, Alcohol & Gaming Control Act, Marriage Act, Vital Statistics Act, Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program, Municipal Elections Act, Line Fences Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act and other Acts related to licensing and court proceedings preferred. Working knowledge of licensing bylaws.
