
Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Township of South Glengarry, Ontario
The Township of South Glengarry is seeking an experienced and collaborative leader to serve as its next Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
Reporting to the mayor and council, the CAO is responsible for the overall administration of the Township and provides strategic leadership to the organization through its senior management team. The CAO ensures that council’s policies, priorities, and decisions are implemented effectively and that municipal services are delivered in an efficient and accountable manner.
As the primary advisor to council on administrative and operational matters, the CAO works closely with council, staff, government partners, and the community to support the Township’s continued growth and long-term success.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Township’s administration and senior management team.
- Support council in the development and implementation of policies, priorities, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure council decisions and directives are implemented effectively across all departments.
- Coordinate the preparation of the Township’s operating and capital budgets and monitor financial performance.
- Oversee organizational structure, staffing, and performance management of senior staff.
- Ensure compliance with municipal legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with council, staff, government agencies, community partners, and the public.
Qualifications:
- University degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven to ten years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in a complex organization.
- Experience working with elected officials and senior management teams.
- Strong knowledge of municipal governance, operations, and finance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
Compensation:
Salary range: $139,544 to $169,834 plus a comprehensive municipal benefits package and OMERS pension.
