As part of our 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, it has been our goal to increase opportunities for networking and community across the Association. We are proud to have integrated these opportunities throughout our different programs and events; however, with all of the recent legislative changes and turnover in the sector, we wanted to provide a more focused opportunity for you, our members, to come together and connect through shared experiences.
Enter AMCTO Virtual Town Halls — an all-new initiative designed by members for members — that allow for a safe space to network, connect, and talk about the issues that matter most to you. These new virtual Town Halls will be open forums where we invite you to share your ideas, pressing concerns, ask questions, exchange ideas, and learn from one another in a members-only supportive space.
Each Town Hall will bring together members from municipalities of a similar population size and will be facilitated by a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Director to help guide the discussion. Members are encouraged to suggest discussion topics and to come prepared with questions, ideas, and feedback. The agenda for each Town Hall session will be built from member-suggested topics. Think of a salon-style social gathering, but virtual and in the Ontario municipal context.
Upcoming Town Halls
Town Halls will take place twice a year — once in the fall and once in the spring — to complement networking at AMCTO Zone meetings. Our first virtual Town Halls will take place on Thursday, November 27, 2025:
- Small Municipalities (<8,000 residents): 11:00am-12:00pm ET
- Medium Municipalities (8,000 - 50,000 residents): 1:00pm-2:00pm ET
- Large Municipalities (>50,000 residents; includes upper-tier municipalities): 2:30pm-3:30pm ET
If you are interested in participating, please sign-up via the registration form on the page linked below. Please note that if you suggest a discussion topic, you will be asked to introduce it during the session. You won't be expected to lead the discussion; however, you should be ready to present a brief introduction to the topic to start the conversation.
The strength of the Association lies in our membership and our ability to come together — to celebrate successes, tackle challenges, and learn from each other. We look forward to hearing and learning from you!
