Seeking Expressions of Interest to Mark or Teach in our Education Programs

Are you looking for opportunities to share your experience and expertise with municipal professionals across the province? If so, consider becoming a marker or instructor for one of our education programs:

  • Municipal Administration Program (MAP)
  • Municipal Accounting and Finance Program (MAFP)
  • Municipal Law Program (MLP)
  • Employment Law and Human Resources Program (HR)
  • Parliamentary Meeting Protocol Course (PMPC)
  • Executive Diploma in Municipal Management (EDMM)
  • Municipal Clerks Institute (MCI) 

We are accepting expressions of interest (EOIs) to join our roster of markers and instructors who assess written assignments and teach classes in a variety of subject areas. Your EOI will be kept on file for two years, and you will be contacted by AMCTO staff if there is a match between your profile and a vacant marking/teaching role during the two-year period. 

Qualifications for Markers

Markers are responsible for grading and providing feedback on written assignments. They do not teach classes. Marker qualifications are as follows:

  • A minimum of five years’ recent working and/or consulting experience in the Ontario municipal sector related to the subject being marked
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Experience with grading adult-learner assignments or exams is an asset 

Qualifications for Instructors 

Instructors teach classes and facilitate discussions and activities through Zoom. In some courses, instructors also mark assignments. Instructor qualifications are as follows: 

  • A minimum of five years’ recent experience in municipal administration in Ontario at the management level or equivalent professional expertise 
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills 
  • Experience teaching or training adult learners is an asset
