We Want to Hear From You: Take our Survey on Harassment and Incivility

Date Published

Harassment and incivility continue to be topics of discussion, and we continue to see increasing news stories of high-profile cases of harassment and incivility in the sector. We’ve heard from you, our members, of increasing confrontational relationships with members of council and members of the public.

In response to this, we have developed the following survey to strengthen our advocacy efforts by collecting more concrete data on instances of harassment and incivility. We want to better understand the experiences of municipal professionals, and to provide further recommendations and solutions to the Province. We want to hear from you to help shape our advocacy efforts on this important issue moving forward.

The survey findings may be used to:

  1. Support our advocacy related to the People and Governance pillar in our Issue Profile.
  2. Inform future discussions at AMCTO forums, conferences, zone meetings and other events to provide a safe space for our community to connect and talk about these issues.
  3. Determine other ways our Association can take action to support members.

Data collected in this survey will build on our advocacy and participation in the Province’s 2021 consultation on strengthening municipal codes of conduct as well as our more recent February 2025 regulatory submission.

This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain anonymous. The deadline to provide feedback has been extended to Friday, July 11.

Complete the Survey

The analysis resulting from this this survey will be summarized and shared with members and supporting municipal associations and may be published for advocacy purposes. Members are welcomed and encouraged to share the survey link with other colleagues in the sector.
