In her role, Valerie oversees a team of case leads tasked with informally resolving, dismissing or issuing orders/decisions for access appeals and complaints under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Part X of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and the Personal Health Information Protection Act. Valerie has also worked as a mediator and adjudicator at the IPC.
Prior to joining the IPC, Valerie held various positions with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the Competition Bureau, as well as several roles in private practice. Valerie obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa and her Honours Bachelor of Arts from York University.
