eScribe 2026 State of the Clerk's Office Survey

As an Association, we are proud to partner with eScribe to support research examining the state of the Ontario clerk's office. Understanding the lived experiences and perspectives of Ontario municipal clerks helps us better serve and support our clerk members, and advance our People & Governance advocacy pillar. AMCTO clerk members are invited to participate in the following survey to help inform eScribe's 2026 State of the Clerk's Office report — an International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) backed, profession-wide resource designed to help clerks and local governments continuously improve operations and public service.

To learn more and see how this research is used, you can read the full 2025 State of Clerk's Office report that was created from last year's data. As a thank you for participating, eScribe is offering a $10 Starbucks gift card to the first 250 respondents. The survey should take approximately 7-10 minutes to complete and will remain open until the end of February.

As an ever-evolving complex role at the centre of local governments, clerks' perspectives are important, and we value members' feedback. The State of the Clerk's Office research is designed to produce a credible, respected, data-driven report that clerks and local governments can use to:

  • Benchmark operations
  • Understand the latest trends
  • Support informed decision-making
  • Plan wisely for the future

We look forward to seeing the results of the survey in the 2026 State of the Clerk's Office report.
