The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) has introduced five new Interpretation Bulletins.
The new Interpretation Bulletins provide insights into how the IPC and the courts have interpreted sections of the Freedom of Information and Protection and Privacy Act and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act when reviewing appeals.
The first bulletins in this new series cover the following topics:
- Custody or control (PDF)
- Fees and fee waivers (PDF)
- Frivolous or vexatious requests (PDF)
- Personal information (PDF)
- Reasonable search (PDF)
The IPC will be publishing additional bulletins on various topics to enhance understanding of the law and transparency of the IPC's appeals process.
