The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) will permit liquor sales licensees to extend their hours of sale and service during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 taking place in Australia and New Zealand.
Liquor sale licensees will be permitted to extend their hours of sale and service to begin at 7:00am for the duration of the World Cup (July 20 – August 20, 2023). The closing service time of 2:00am will remain unchanged.
Municipalities will have the option to object to this temporary extension of hours by passing a Municipal Resolution or a letter from the City Clerk and email it to the Registrar of the AGCO. Any such objections will be respected, and the usual permissible hours of sale and service will remain from 9:00am to 2:00am in those municipalities.
A list of municipalities in which the extension does not apply will be listed on AGCO's website. Licensees are responsible for checking the AGCO website to ensure their respective municipalities have not objected.
