"Decisions made at the local government table have real and immediate impacts, and it is an honor to be part of that decision-making process."
About Me:

I have dedicated more than a decade to municipal government and cannot imagine working in any other field. My passion for local government has inspired me to take on governance roles outside of work, including serving on the Board of Directors for AMCTO and volunteering on the Board of my community’s Nurse Practitioner Clinic. As an avid reader, I also facilitate a virtual book club geared towards professionals/leaders on LinkedIn. Outside of work, I stay busy as a proud hockey and dance mom to my two children (ages 8 and 5).

Why did you get involved with/pursue a career in local government?

My journey in local government began in economic development and communications, but I quickly found myself drawn to the clerk’s role. When my mentor retired, I was fortunate to step into this position, which has since become my true professional passion. What appealed to me most about the clerk’s role is its unique position at the heart of the municipality, touching every department in some way while also maintaining a direct connection to the political side through council-related activities. It’s a role that brings together governance, collaboration, and service to the community, and that combination continues to inspire me.

What is one thing members of the public would be surprised to learn about your role?

Many may not realize that the position of municipal clerk is fundamental to local governance. Legally, a council cannot make decisions without a designated clerk present, making it one of the few positions that are required by law in every Ontario municipality.

What do you enjoy most about working in local government?

What I love most about working in local government is the tangible impact our work has on the community. In my role, I have the opportunity to connect directly with residents, collaborate with regional partners, and engage with upper levels of government. Decisions made at the local government table have real and immediate impacts, and it is an honor to be part of that decision-making process.
