The Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) has initiated the periodic maintenance of its standard, DGSI 119-2, Election and Voting Technologies – Part 2: Electronic Poll Books. This standard specifies the minimum requirements for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of electronic poll books.
The is the second standard in a series of standards for the use of election and voting technologies. The first standard, on voting tabulators, is also currently undergoing periodic maintenance. The standards are intended to support election administrators in strengthening integrity, reliability, and public trust in election technologies.
The completion of the review may result in a new edition, a revision, a reaffirmation or the withdrawal of the standard.
The institute is seeking review and comments from stakeholders, including those who manage elections, technology and cybersecurity experts, policymakers, accessibility advocates and members of the public. The maintenance review and comment period runs until May 20, 2026.
