Municipalities are burdened by dozens of reports required to be completed for the Province. This is particularly true for the upcoming financial and calendar year ends. While we continue to advocate on behalf of members to streamline and reduce overall reporting requirements, we wanted to highlight some key due dates to keep in mind this year.
Note: this listing is not exhaustive, it is meant to be a snapshot of some of the many quarterly municipal reporting requirements in 2025.
January – March
- 2024 Annual Water Quality Report - required under O. Reg. 170/03 Drinking Water Systems - became due February 28, 2025
- For municipalities who maintain drinking water systems; to be submitted to the Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks
- Employer Health Tax (EHT) - annual return due March 15, 2025
- 2024 Permit to Take Water - required under Ontario Regulation 387/04 - Water Taking and Transfer - due March 31, 2025
- 2024 Annual Municipal Planning Data Reporting - due March 31, 2025
- 2024 Council's Statements of Remuneration - required under the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25- due March 31, 2025
- 2024 Provincial Offences Administration Annual Report - as per the Memorandum of Understanding between municipalities and the Ministry of the Attorney General - due March 31, 2025
April-June
- 2024 Financial Information Return - due May 31, 2025
July-September
- Asset Management Plan - due July 1, 2025
- For all municipal infrastructure assets that build upon the requirements set out in 2024 under O. Reg. 588/17.
- 2024 Broader public sector energy reporting - due July 1, 2025
- Summary of annual energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions - required under O. Reg. 507/18- due July 1, 2025
- Property Income and Expense Return (PIER) - due July 14, 2025

- Tax rate bylaws can be submitted through the Online Property Tax Analysis (OPTA) system or submitted to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing as outlined in the following schedule.
October-December
- Accessibility Compliance Report - due December 31, 2025
